Phrag. longifolium v. album 'Zephyrus Mint' HCC/AOSAwarded 79 points, flowers were luminous yellow green with a natural spread of 16 cm (the 12th flower for the spike). The best feature of this clone is its flowering habit: unlike the coloratum form, the spikes are consistently compact with very tightly spaced bracts on small, compact plants (greenhouse grown). At time of the award, one of the spikes was branched, carrying a third set of floral bracts just like those shown here. October 2019

Paph. henryanum 'October Trio' JC/AOSThis photo was a loooooong time in the making....we have been growing several clones of both the coloratum form as well as f. christae (from the Perners) for several years, right alongside f. album 'Ghost Leopard' CHM/AOS. The stars finally aligned and all three bloomed together, making for this interesting photo! October 2019

Paph. stonei f. luteo-album 'Hilo Lemon-n-Ice' CHM/AOSFirst blooming for us in July of 2015, this clone was used as the type specimen for the formal botanical description of this albino variety by Harold Koopowitz and Olaf Gruss in Orchid Digest 80-1, pp. 20-21 (Jan., Feb., Mar. 2016). At that time it had two flowers, however on its next bloom, pictured here, it produced three. Unlike many albinistic varieties, it seems to be a good grower, seemingly more prolific than the coloratum variety. October 2018

Dendrobium lawesii 'Pink and White' x self AQ/AOS
Dendrobium lawesii is a very gratifying species to grow given its freeblooming habit with very colorful flowers. Staking canes upright shows off the flowers and enables you to grow more plants in a smaller space. Like other species in the genus, colour genetics is highly variable. In an effort to propagate the more unusual pink and white bicolor flower combination, the breeders at Ecuagenera selfed one such clone. Unbelievably, an enormous diversity of colour was seen from these plants coming from a single flask. Recognized for 'flower size and diverse colour combinations on thirteen first bloom seedlings, colour range includes red, white, pink, rose, magenta, gold, yellow and orange.' Coel. Orchideengarten Joachim AQ/AOS
(usitana 'Ed's Choice' x salmonicolor 'Milan' HCC/AOS)
Coel. usitana is a relatively new species with beautiful ivory flowers, wonderfully contrasted with an orange to brown lip, however this species is most remarkable with its continuous blooming habit. Coelogyne salmonicolor tends to make clusters of flowers that are translucent salmon colored, atypical for the genus, from compact, vigorous plants that can have an orange tinge to the foliage. The objective of this cross was to combine the colourful flowers of salmonicolor with the continuous blooming habit of usitana.
